Enphase Energy

Monitor your solar production and consumption.

Written by Ryan Kulp

Connecting your Enphase system to TRMNL takes just a few minutes and requires no coding.

First, some context. In August 2026 we built a native, 1-click integration with Enphase. Unfortunately, their API is a paid service that would cost $5-8 per month, per connected user.

To mitigate this, below are steps to create your own Enphase "developer application" and get personal energy insights for $0, forever.

Step 1 - Create an Enphase Application

Sign up for a free Enphase Developer Account:
https://developer-v4.enphase.com/signup

Once inside, visit the Applications portal > Create new application:
https://developer-v4.enphase.com/admin/applications/new

Choose the free "Watt" plan, then add whatever name and description you'd like. Most importantly, check all the boxes at the bottom:

Click to save/create the application. On the next page you'll see a few values that we need for the TRMNL connection. Keep that page open and move on to the next step below.

Step 2 - Visit the Enphase Energy Plugin

We've created an Unlisted plugin here:
https://trmnl.com/recipes/412151/

This is a Recipe flavored plugin, which often means community-developed. However this particular Recipe is maintained by our core team.

Click Install in the top right. If you instead choose "Fork," the following instructions will not match your interface and you won't receive automatic updates.

Step 3 - Configure Plugin

In the settings form below, provide the requested details.

Enphase API Key

As the instructions suggest, grab this from the Application you just created in Step 1.

Enphase System ID

Find this in your Enphase dashboard as suggested. The access token approach will not work (yet) during initial steup.

Do you have consumption CTs installed?

Only you will know the answer to this, but generally speaking older systems may not have this feature.

Scroll down to the remaining few settings:

OAuth Client ID

This is available from your Application page, created in Step 1.

OAuth Client Secret

Here again, this is also available from your Application page.

After filling out the 5x fields described above, click Save, then click "Connect with OAuth" in the top right corner. This will complete the permissions swap between TRMNL and your Enphase account.

If you don't automatically see stats and a chart with recent production data, click "Force Refresh" on the right side of your plugin settings page.

Step 4 - You're Done!

Based on your refresh settings, you'll begin seeing a dashboard of your production and consumption stats soon.

Stay focused.
