The reMarkable tablet is powered by reMarkable OS, a custom Linux distribution. Thanks to their allowing root access, you can add TRMNL to your tablet without removing core functionality.

First, add KOReader to reMarkable by enabling developer mode and following a guide to SSH into your device. Here are a couple options:
