Connecting Apple Photos to TRMNL takes just a few moments and will not expose any pictures or data except without your explicit permission.
Step 1 - Visit the Apple Photos Plugin
Inside TRMNL, navigate to Plugins > Apple Photos.
Step 2 - Connect Apple Photos
This is easiest from the Apple Photos desktop application (requires a Mac computer), but is possible from a phone as well.
First, navigate to the Sharing section on the left side of the application.
Click the '+' symbol and create a Shared album, or skip below if you already have a Shared album you'd like to connect with TRMNL. Give your album a name.
Next, navigate to the top right of your album's content and click the icon with a generic avatar.
Check the "Public Website" box to enable URL-based sharing.
You may need to wait a few seconds for this album to be shared, then you can navigate back to the left-margin "Sharing" section, right-click (ctrl+click) the album name, and click Visit Website.
Finally, copy the resulting web page to your clipboard.
Step 3 - Add album to TRMNL
Back inside TRMNL > Plugins > Apple Photos, paste this album URL and select your image handling settings.
Step 4 - You're Done!
Based on your chosen refresh settings, you'll begin seeing photos from Apple very soon. Stay focused.
Troubleshooting
If you provide an unrecognized URL, you may receive an erroring screen which says "Please setup your album."
If you provide a public-friendly URL that allows others to view your photos, but it is not a "Shared" album (accessible within the Sharing section), you will receive an erroring screen which says "That link isn't a shared album, enable Public Website for the album."
