Bought from trmnl.com?
Email support@trmnl.com with the MAC address on your screen and your order number, and we'll activate it for you. A DIY kit from Seeed Studio or another store needs a BYOD license instead.
Using your own hardware?
You will need a BYOD license (Bring Your Own Device) to use trmnl.com as your server for your BYOD device. You are also welcome to run your own server (BYOS), no license required.
Note: want to try it first? Start a 14-day BYOD trial. A trial device takes your MAC address the same way as below.
Adding your MAC address
With a BYOD license or trial you can add your MAC address yourself. Hover over your BYOD device in the top-right of trmnl.com and click on the gear icon, selecting the Developer Perks section.
Enter your device's MAC address and save, then restart your board so it checks in again.
Type it as 6 pairs of characters separated by colons, for example 28:37:2F:B0:FA:4D. Each character is a digit from 0 to 9 or a letter from A to F. Anything else shows the error "Please match the requested format".
Still stuck?
No BYOD device in your account. Your license sits on the account that bought it, or that started the trial. Log out and log in with that email address.
It still says "MAC not registered" after you save. Check the MAC address matches the one on your screen exactly (format tips), then restart your board.
